hogwarts/ harry potter room decor?

okay, well i have recently been thinking about remodeling my room so that it wil be harry potter/ hogwarts themed. i have a few questions...
1) i was thinking of painting my walls white, and then either painting purple and black designs (circles, squares, ect.) to represent hogwarts colors (purple). OR i could paint my walls white and put up purple and black wall decals. what do you think of this idea?
2) i have wanted a trunk for ages. does anyone know anywhere to get a nice, wooden trunk? (websites or stores, please)
3) how to convince my parents to let me do all this? i don't know how they'd feel about painting my walls agian... (they were painted pink when i was about 9 or 10, i'm 13 now.)

Hey, that sounds awesome. I would love to do that and I am almost sixteen.

Did you think that you could make your ceiling like the one of the Great Hall? Put stars and paint the night sky to give the illusion of there being no roof but be careful not to make it too space-age if you get what I mean.

I agree with answer above me. Maybe if you bought some wall paper to make it look like bricks. You could even paint them, but I guess you'll need to be artistic and really patient for that. I just had an idea!!! Maybe you could paint a 'window' that looks out to the grounds of 'Hogwarts'. It wouldn't really be a window but it'll look like one. Again, I would love it if my room was like that! so cool!

You could put drapes like the ones in the dorms on your bed. It'll make you feel like you're waking up in Hogwarts every morning!

I don't know where to buy a trunk from exactly. Look around in your local furniture or Bazaar stores. They're bound to have something there. Maybe you could even make one!

Now, to the problem with your parents. Just bring it up nicely and if they don't agree with you at first be mature about and don't argue with them back (it doesn't get you anywhere if you start yelling how unfair it is, trust me!). Present to them that you're now getting older and you feel like change. I am guessing you're a huge Harry Potter fan??? You could tell them that too! Maybe for fun you could paint it yourself!? Bring it up again later if they don't agree straightaway.
