I have a blacksplash in my kitchen that is comprised of mostly 6x6 cream colored tiles with accent tiles that are hideous flowers (bought the home from just a darling elderly woman that LOVED them). I want to cover the accent tiles and keep the cream colored tiles as is. I have heard of painting them (which is what I am trying to avoid) and possible sticking peel and stick tiles over the accent ones? Not sure how this will work if I am just doing this over random tiles and not all of them. Any one have any success on something like this or have any feedback?? Thanks so much!
There is NO rule that you can't add a textured accent tile on top of the original. It will require you roughing and etching the flowers (you will get pleasure in this) adding the glue and placing a textured tile over the flower. You can then grout the edges for uniformity.

Another fast fix is using a tinted plaster to create a shape over the tile then putting a clear glaze over that. http://www.victorialarsen.com/plaster%20molds/plaster_molds_home-nature.htm This you can bevel to the existing height of the tiles
