How can I get my wall stickers ?
I bought a pack of Nouvelles Images Home Stickers for my wall in my apartment. They are removable and won't damage walls, that is why I bought them. However, they don't seem to be sticky enough because they are already falling off. What is an affective way to get these stickers to stay up without ruining my walls? They look so cute and I don't want to take them down.
Well, I checked out their Website and unfortunately, they don't have a trouble-shooting section, nor do they say what their wall stickers are made of, but I'll try and help anyway.
1. Did you wash the wall you put them on first? If you didn't and there is any grease and grime, this could be causing the problem, especially if you put them on a wall in the kitchen or bathroom. If this is the case, simply remove the stickers and wash the wall with liquid TSP. Don't use the powder formula, as it's hard to mix and is toxic. Plus you'll have to rinse it off before you can do anthing else. TSP will remove all grease and grime. You'll find it at any home hardware store and it's relatively inexpensive. Once you've followed the manufacturer's directions, let it dry completely and try to replace the stickers. However, if there is grease and grime from the wall that has adhered to the stickers, you may find you have the same problem. If this is the case, wash the backs of the stickers. I know this might not help them to stick after (and I have a solution below if that happens), but they aren't sticking anyway, so you have nothing to lose, right?
Once you've cleaned both wall and stickers, use 3M scotch vellum adhesive. By spraying only the back of the stickers and not spraying the wall too, the adhesive remains repositionable. Position them on the wall and there you have it - sticking wall stickers! You can reuse this spray when needed and it won't ruin the walls:
